This chapter is for existing installations. New installations should use Chimera and notpnfs.
This chapter gives background information about pnfs. pnfs is the
filesystem, dCache used to be based on. Only the aspects of pnfs
relevant to dCache will be explained here. A complete set of
documentation is available from the pnfs homepage.
