Dear dCache Cummunity, dCache Golden Release production ready ![]() Our Golden dCache Release (1.9.5-4) has now been declared production ready. Except for an observation described below, we have been able to fix all issues reported by our early adopters. Many thanks too those brave folks. You may now go ahead and plan upgrading your instance to the Golden Release at your leisure, if not yet done. New dCache information provider 1.9.5-4 offers a new information provider, publishing Space Token information according to the definition of the "Installed Capacity Working Group" (GLUE). When upgrading to 1.9.5-4 from an earlier release you have to manually enable this feature. Please refer to the 1.9.5 release notes on how to do that or contact support at dCache dot org in case of questions. dCache distributions (gLite, VDT) The process of integrating 1.9.5-4 in gLite and VDT (osg) is now starting. Please refer to the web pages of those distributions for updates on the progress of testing and certification. Remaining issue The PIC Tier I recently reported that a well known PNFS issue is observed more often with 1.9.5 under high load. Automatically created directories (by SRM) are ROOT owned instead of being owned by the correct uid:gid. This is not an issue when using Chimera instead of PNFS. As it seems now, the NFS Linux Client code behaves incorrect on high load. We are investigating whether a particular mount option on the PNFS node may solve the problem or other actions have to be taken. The increased frequency of the event may possibly result from the improved performance of the SRM front-end or the faster message passing in dCache 1.9.5. Have a nice remaining weekend your dCache team |
