6th international dCache workshop, Third Bulletin

Transportation

As we are organizing bus transfers from Berlin/City to the venue in Zeuthen during the core workshop days, we would need to know were you are staying in the city.

So please, let us know in which hotel you are staying, if you want to be picked up in the morning. Send information to workshop at dcache dot org

You will however understand, that we can only provide that service from the most popular hotels in the area close to the recommended hotels. We will circulate the bus transfer schedule end of next week.

For the basic tutorial, we would ask you to use public transportation to Zeuthen, as described here. The tutorial begins at 13:00 (17th of April) and ends about 18:00. If you arrive early enough you can have launch in the DESY/Zeuthen cantine.

Tutorials, hands-on sessions, virtual machines and prerequisites.

The local organizers are providing central virtual machines for the basic tutorial as well as for the hands-on sessions. You will however need to bring a laptop in order to have a terminal and a web browser. If that's not possible for you, please let us know. We might be able to provide some spare laptops. Windows users should make sure that their laptop has PuTTY or any other terminal program installed.

WiFi

The venue is equipped with WiFi and provides eduroam access. If your laptop is not configure for eduroam, please send the MAC address of your wireless network interface to workshop at dcache dot org (if not yet done during the registration process). We will provided a very limited number of wired ethernet connections.

Best regards and enjoy your Easter holidays
Patrick, on behalf the organizing team.
